Chris Amon was a New Zealand racing driver and is considered one of the best drivers never to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Following his 1966 Le Mans victory with Ford, Enzo Ferrari invited him to Maranello, where he signed a contract for 1967 alongside Lorenzo Bandini, Mike Parkes, and Ludovico Scarfiotti. His first year at Ferrari got off to an unfortunate start: while driving his road car to the preseason race at Brands Hatch, he was involved in an accident. In 1967, he won the 24 Hours of Daytona with Ferrari. With five pole positions, he still holds the record among winless Formula 1 drivers.
