Jody Scheckter is a South African former racing driver. In 1979, he became Formula 1 World Champion with Ferrari and remained the only African driver to win a Grand Prix or the World Championship title. He came to Ferrari after remaining winless with Wolf in 1978 and Enzo Ferrari offered him the chance to succeed Carlos Reutemann. For over 20 years, he was Ferrari's last World Champion before Michael Schumacher brought the title back in the 2000 season.
